Rachel, ...Thanks to both of you for your feedback.. Rachel, I think we are saying pretty much the same thing, and just taking it to a different conclusion, but I enjoyed reading yours!!*Chris and Jennie*https://www.blogger.com/profile/01654309730114614363noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6702231278004414917.post-13736861739767300572008-11-05T14:52:00.000-06:002008-11-05T14:52:00.000-06:00I read one time that the blessing of having differ...I read one time that the blessing of having different denominations and churches, is that we can worship with those who believe the same way we do and not have to argue with those that don't. We need to do what we believe is right, but if someone else really believes the gospel, well, we'll have to spend eternity with them in heaven too! I think we can certainly disagree with someone in less important areas and still get along with them, love them, help them, be friends with them, and treat each other fairly - even if we don't go to church with them.
NaomiThe K. I'm not saying that you aren't saved if you do those things, just that I MYSELF wouldn't feel comfortable in those situations...for many reasons.

I also think that many churches cling to their "right" to have rock music, or inappropriate behavior in their youth groups, or whatever else they may have going on that makes some people uncomfortable, overlooking verses such as 1 Corinthians 8:13: "Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend." Paul wasn't saying, "Well, God hasn't convicted me about eating meat, so it's okay for me to do it. If someone else feels uncomfortable with it, then maybe they should go find another place to worship." NO!! He was saying if something HE DID was causing some other Christian to stumble, then he would NEVER do it again!!! THAT, I believe is TRUE LOVE for other believers!!!!! Being willing to give up something you may enjoy, if it's causing other believers to stumble.

I'm not a theologian, and I do agree with you in part, but I also think that many Christian churches these days are NOT displaying true, sacrificial love for others, because they don't want to give up the things that they enjoy, even if it offendes other Christians, and is being a stumbling block to them.

Wow, this is getting long...but you did ASK for feedback...LOL... :)Daniel and Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17620955922519168754noreply@blogger.com
